## Overview

Trendz Mart is a mobile-first e-commerce platform designed to bring modern online shopping to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The app delivers personalized product discovery through machine learning algorithms while maintaining the trust and familiarity that local shoppers expect from traditional retail.

## The Challenge

The Iraqi e-commerce landscape presents unique obstacles: fragmented payment systems with limited card adoption, unreliable address infrastructure for delivery logistics, and a bilingual user base that expects native-quality experiences in both Kurdish and Arabic. Existing solutions were either too Western-centric or lacked the polish to build consumer trust.

## Our Approach

We built the application on React Native for cross-platform reach, with a Node.js backend designed for the realities of variable network conditions. The AI recommendation engine was trained on regional purchasing patterns rather than Western consumer data, resulting in significantly more relevant product suggestions. We integrated cash-on-delivery alongside digital payment options and built a custom address system using landmark-based navigation.
